Hi! Please don't forget to label your posts with the date the reading is due and your name and last name. So, for example, for the first blog post I would label my post with these two tags "09/11/2014" and "Ali Bolcakan" [without the quotes of course].

Black Hole

I wasn't able to get a picture on here, but I chose the part just after Chris and Rob have finished having sex, where Chris realizes that Rob has "the bug." I think this, along with any other time the disease is contracted, represents a sort of transition into being sexually active, or even adulthood. The mutations that the kids acquire after having sex are, in a way, representative of what happens after someone loses their virginity. People view losing their virginity differently, and to be honest I don't view it in this way, but I think, in this story, these mutations are representative of the sort of sinful stain that's left on you after you do something that is so historically shameful. Not only that, but once someone contracts the bug, they are usually forced to go live with the other infected kids in the forest, which is sort of like how someone who's had sex might be classified as "slutty" and thus is shunned from the abstinant population.
